Drunk man sells car for beer money, then wakes up and wonders where his car went

You may wonder how this tale was pieced together given that he had forgotten his actions from the night before.

On that note, here’s the brief and entertaining story of a New Zealand man who was so trashed that he inadvertently sold his car for 800 New Zealand dollars (which roughly translates to $575 USD). Why? For the sole purpose of acquiring more money so he could buy more beer.

The next day, this unnamed man couldn’t remember making this transaction, so he called the cops and reported that his vehicle was stolen. Stop us if this sounds familiar.

You may wonder how this tale was pieced together given that he had forgotten his actions from the night before. You can thank the man who bought the drunk seller's vehicle. He reported the details of the exchange to the authorities after he received an alert that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

“Thankfully the man who bought the car checked the registration the next day on the CarJam website as he was worried it might be stolen,” said Sergeant Dennis Murphy to the New Zealand Herald. “

The man came into the station with the car to let us know what had happened. We were able to get in touch with the original owner and told them to sort it out between them.

The sergeant also summed up the entire debacle with a moral for the story: “Don’t drink and sell cars.”

Let's add that to the list of things to avoid doing when you're wasted.
